World Horror Convention

The festival will consider all films, regardless of any commercial, theatrical, or television play. There is no restriction as to when the film was made. Submitters MUST be the legal copyright holders of the film they submit. They must have the right to submit said film in the WHC2008 Film Festival. WHC2008 claims NO rights to the films beyond permission to show the films in the WHC2008 film festival. By submitting your film to our festival, you are giving us permission to show the film and are agreeing to the terms of this agreement.

All films submitted and shown at WHC2008 cannot exceed what would be considered a “hard R” rating. This rating is based on US standards. No pornography or explicit sex will be accepted. Films do not need to have a rating to be submitted, but if they must be films that would receive PG, PG-13, or R ratings, if they were to be rated.

All films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for festival presentation, unless dialogue is non-essential to comprehension of the film.

Each film must be submitted on DVD. The DVD must be labeled with title, director's name, writer's name, running time, and contact number. DVDs will NOT be returned, so please send a disposable copy.

Film categories:

Short film

a running time of 49 minutes or less.

Feature film

a running time of 50 minutes or more.

Professional

films with a budget of $200,000 or more

DVDs that are submitted will be considered to be final format. Films that are accepted will be screened at the festival as provided.

If the film has a press kit, please include it.

All DVDs and submitted press materials will not be returned.

There is a small entry fee to pay for cost of awards. The fee is $20 for a short film and $40 for a feature-length film.

Collect or COD shipments to the festival will NOT be accepted.

NOTE: Filmmakers must have a WHC membership in order to attend screenings. If the filmmaker is present, he/she will be given the opportunity to speak at the screening.

NOTE: We are looking into the possibility of a convention membership that will be film festival only. This option, if it is made available, would be less expensive than a normal full membership but would only allow the bearer access to the film festival.
